The Basic Behavioral Styles ( Driver, Analytical,...

Mediation It was clear to me that I needed to help these two employees. One was miserable and felt she couldn’t do anything right in the eyes of her leader. The other employee felt she was helping by providing an example of strong professional leadership, demonstrating acceptable office behavior and technical skills development for her employee. There is obviously a gap in communication, understanding and intentions by both employees. Prior to both employees showing up to the meeting, I shared a document with them that contained an outline and detailed description of the four basic behavioral styles (Driver, Analytical, Expressive and Amiable). The document outlined the strengths and areas of opportunity for each style. It also reinforced that all four styles get results; they simply go about getting results in different ways. In addition, it explained why no one style is better than the other and the importance of â€Å"Style Flexing†. In essence, leaders and employee s that â€Å"Style Flex†, (which means being able to move throughout the different styles and the ability to adapt your behavioral style depending on who you’re communicating with) are more effective communicators. Practicing effective communication can also lead to building effective relationships. These documents were given to both Judy and Wanda as a prerequisite to attending the first join session to establish a baseline of knowledge about behavioral styles.
